Business Development Manager

This is an opportunity to enter into a fast-paced outward-facing role at a leading media company in the South West. We’re looking for a dynamic salesperson for a busy sales position covering magazine, events and digital for our brands in Bristol. Media sales experience is desirable but not necessary.

Details of Role: MediaClash is a Bath-based magazine publisher, event organiser and creative agency. This is a high profile, attractive role for a sales professional working mainly across MediaClash Bristol brands including Bristol Life, Bristol Property Awards, Bristol Life Awards, EntreConf, plus further events and brand extensions. This will involve the following responsibilities:

• Contributing to meeting revenue targets

• Generating new business

• Managing and growing revenue from existing clients

• Attending weekly sales meetings

• Representing MediaClash in a professional and ethical manner to ensure long term relationships that benefit both the company and our clients

• Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers in person and via calls, emails and meetings

• Adhering to any key performance indicators (KPIs) as agreed with your line manager. These may include number of outbound calls, time on the phone, client meetings etc

• Cold calling and arranging meetings with potential customers to prospect for new business

• In all cases, to present our titles to clients with passion, dedication and honesty

• Responding to incoming email and phone enquiries; listening to customer requirements and presenting appropriately

• Gathering market and customer information

• Representing MediaClash at key events (some evening)

• Negotiating on price with clients within your agreed negotiation boundaries as agreed with your line manager and company yield strategy

• Handling objections

• Advising on forthcoming product developments and discussing special promotions

• Creating well written, concise and compelling proposal documents where applicable

• Accurately recording sales, order information and notes on Hubspot for all client conversations and bookings

• Reviewing your own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets

• Gaining a clear understanding of customers' businesses and requirements

• Attending team meetings and sharing best practice with colleagues

Digital Content and Commercial Manager

A brand new commercial and creative role has arisen as part of a busy media business. You’ll be responsible for driving content and engagement online across our Bath Life and Bristol Life channels and monetising this opportunity. This role offers a breadth of experience and insight across a number of media platforms including magazines, digital and events.

Details of Role: You will work with the in house team to develop and execute an online content strategy for MediaClash core brands. This role will support running the magazine brand social media accounts day-to-day, focussed on growing engagement and sponsored content revenue. You will also assist with newsletter strategy the Bath Life and Bristol Life weekly newsletters, as well as helping to develop the new channels online. This will involve the following responsibilities:

• Create best-in-class content that drives digital reach and engagement of our target audience,
balancing both editorial excellence and revenue generation.

• Create content for Bath Life and Bristol Life digital channels including video, photo and writing.

• Contribute to the digital commercial offering and sales process by creating packages and selling across the channels.

• Visit and liaise with MediaClash clients to create and/or share their content.

• Use analytics tools and data to adjust, mould and accelerate MediaClash’s digital strategy,
helping to ensure monthly targets are met.

• Use paid media to boost the reach of content.

• Develop newsletter engagement and sign-ups.

• Work with the editorial and events team to ensure appropriate content is repurposed and distributed on our digital channels.

• Forecast trends within a digital landscape that can support brand growth and audience development.

• You may be required to undertake such further duties as your skills, qualifications and experience allow and/or as may be assigned to you from time to time.

Skills

• Strong communication skills in person

• Strong knowledge of the social media landscape, trends and uses

• Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Plus creative tools such as InDesign, Photoshop, Canva
and video editing
